Aus Women Writers Wrap Up

I am delighted so say that I read 14 AWW books this year. The AWW made up 27% of the total books I read this year.

Of the 14 books, 12 were novels and 2 were non-fiction. This is a typical split for me although I could easily read 14+ novels in a row.

Favourite Author This year my favourite author was Honey Brown. Only discovering her in the second half of the year, I have now read three of her novels with The Red Queen being my pick of the three but as this is not available in the UK I will also heartily recommend After the Darkness.

Favourite Novel My favourite novel was The Burial by Courtney Collins. Fantastic!

Biggest Surprise I had heard so many good things about Anna Krien‘s Night Games (review to come) but I didn’t know whether I would enjoy it. I probably couldn’t think of many genres I dislike more that ‘sports / sports biography.’ However, I could not put this down and read it in one sitting, no mean feat when you have a baby.

Most Popular Review The most popular review on my site this year (much to my surprise) has been Robin Klein‘s People Might Hear You. I guess lots of readers love the nostalgia.

Most Enjoyable Review Carrie Tiffany‘s Mateship with Birds. The novel just wasn’t for me but I surprised myself by having great fun writing the review.

Pick of the Month Out of the 11 months I wrote reviews this year (none in January due to my son being born), 3 months had an AWW as my favourite book. (27% of monthly picks – this matches the above statistic)
